about this artwork
study with red pigments
having spent a couple days in florence, italy, this summer and visited so many museums and impressive artworks I have been particularly touched by some very intense shades of red the famous 'quattrocento' renaissance artists used in their paintings.
so I went about florence, rummaging to find some red pigments to start integrating pigments in my own works ... got lucky and found a shop selling some 'rosso cinabro (vermillion red)' which I had to try out once back home.
the present artwork is just a study to find out how much of the pigments would be needed to obtain quite an intense shade of red ...
more of 'rosso cinabro' works to come ... stay tuned !
